You know when you just can't make up your mind???
Civil War Repros???
Or 1930's???
whats this for you ask??? Bonnie is having a new mystery quilt on the Quiltville.com site, and its called "Orange Crush".. now you need some fabric that reads solid, and unfortunately for me, you also need yardage..
I have been diggin' around in the stash looking looking looking... and this is the best that I can come up with.. I just dont think the solids work that well with what I have picked.. the actual stash fabrics are to be scrappy, now I dont have a lot of scraps, I usually cut what I need off a piece and have a weird looking piece when I am done..
so what do you think? 30's or civil wars? and are my solids just plain wrong.. Oh with the 30's, I specifically didn't pick red/yellow/pink as the last quilt was mostly pink/yellow and I am kinda over that combo, but maybe this isn't why the group of fabs isn't sparkling...
or do I just chuck it and start again?? hahaha

An easy question for me as I'm not into the 30s prints but I really like civil war prints.
As you know I like both 30's and civil war prints, but those blues don't do much for your darker prints, the yellow solid in with your 30's will give it a little bit more pop. You'll need to change your solids if you go with the CW repros. (my two cents)
I like both CW and 1930's
but I would go with the 1930's
I would probably try to add a brighter pink in with it
I would change the 30's to darker or brighter fabrics. They look too pastel to me with the rest of fabrics. What do I know though? I have been having my own trouble choosing what I am going to use! :)
I like the civil war prints, but also not sure about the solid blue fabrics.
Maybe you need another trip to the quilt shop? Maybe. Just nothing like a few new scraps in the stash (says someone who has just restashed to do the melly and me challenge..) Good luck Lissa!
Those blues are not rocking my boat either Lissa, but take my opinion with a grain of salt.
I'd go with the civil war but think the blue would stand out like a sore thumb
susie
Although I picked 30's for my OC project - I like your civil war repo's better!! Makes me wish I had some of those...........
I'm thinking the 30s stuff could do with a deeper blue solid to spark it up. And some yellow prints maybe?
I really like both CW and 1930's but my pick is the 30's and add back the pinks and yellows. All this coming from someone who can't finish anything because she can't decide which looks best...
Whichever you choose, it will look fantastic, all of your work does.
I like the CW, but agree with the others about the blue...the darkest would be okay, but the two lighter seem too bright. How about some greens? I also like the 30's and think you solids are fine but it looks like there is not enough? Are you planning to use the prints to fill in? If so they might be a bit busy and not read enough as solids. I think the 30's would make a very happy quilt. I like the idea of using 30's fabrics and even am tempted to go and buy some because I don't have any! No, no, no! I'm using my stash!
Can't help you I'm afraid! You just need to go shopping and buy some more civil war and more 1930s and then try to decide.......!
Hmm...not sure - what do the 30's look like with the repros blue solids instead??? I think the solids you have with the 30's are too pastelly
Or when in doubt - buy more fabric....lol
BTW I havent picked my fabrics yet so you are way ahead of me
I am a 30's junkie so I say go for the 30's
I'm a sucker for 30's prints these days. your pile of fabric is so pretty!
